Right to Learn Afghanistan is a federally registered charity (Canada Revenue Agency #887718203RR0001). Right to Learn Afghanistan is also registered with Industry Canada as a non-profit corporation under number 415380-4 and is licensed to operate under the Alberta Government Charities Act (#309874).
Originally founded in 1998, Right to Learn Afghanistan (formerly known as Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan) was incorporated as a non-profit corporation in May 2003 and as a registered charity in February 2009. Right to Learn Afghanistan is governed by an elected Board of Directors comprised of not less than three persons elected to fill the Officer positions, and no more than six additional persons, being Directors at large, as per the organization’s CRA approved by-laws. The officers of Right to Learn Afghanistan are the National President, the National Vice President, the National Secretary and the National Treasurer. Directors and officers are nominated and elected at the annual general meetings by voting members.

Right to Learn Afghanistan’s budgeting allows for sufficient funds to be available each year to sustain our long-term commitments with our project partners. Accordingly, we have held an investment of a minimum of $250,000 as reserve funds to sustain our projects for a 12-month period beyond the current fiscal year.

Right to Learn Afghanistan has a comprehensive system of policies and procedures in place that guide our organization’s program implementation, performance measurement, financial accountability and human resource management, among others. Right to Learn Afghanistan is a registered charity in good standing with Canada Revenue Agency.
