Please join our Ottawa Chapter on Sunday, August 13, 2023 on Parliament Hill in Ottawa as they gather with concerned citizens, activists, and advocates to mark the second anniversary of the Taliban’s tragic takeover of Afghanistan.

The Taliban’s oppression of women and girls has led to widespread human rights abuses and spiraling levels of gender-based violence. Millions of women and girls in Afghanistan have been deprived of basic rights including education, work, freedom of movement, expression, and association.

Afghanistan is the only country in the world to officially ban girls and women from education.

This event is part of the International Week of Solidarity with the people of Afghanistan, which invites the international community to stand with women and girls who are facing life-threatening circumstances and being denied their human rights under the Taliban’s rule.
