Chapter Overview

Right to Learn Afghanistan boasts 10 dynamic volunteer chapters nationwide. Our chapters are pivotal in organizing fundraising and awareness events to support Right to Learn’s educational programs for Afghan women and girls, and in spotlighting the human rights crisis in Afghanistan. All those who share our mission to uphold the right to education are warmly welcomed to join our chapters.

Our chapters undertake a diverse array of initiatives, such as organizing fundraisers, screening films, helping resettle newcomer families, and facilitating community dialogues. They also promote our Breaking Bread program and host Afghan marketplaces (sale of Afghan goods). Some chapters focus on one major fundraiser annually, while others host multiple smaller events throughout the year for fundraising or awareness-raising purposes, with the frequency and nature of these events determined by each chapter’s discretion.

About Right to Learn Afghanistan:

Right to Learn Afghanistan exists to make the right to education a reality for Afghan women and girls. We have supported human rights and education opportunities for girls and women in Afghanistan since 1998 by providing access to quality, gender equitable education. We have trained 10,000 teachers, established 300 libraries and science labs, and established a digital library with tens of thousands of downloads each month.

As of August 2021, Afghanistan became the only country in the world to ban women and girls from receiving an education. Working in partnership with Afghan women, Right to Learn has adapted programs to offer free virtual courses to connect thousands of Afghan women and girls with quality education. Our programs transform lives, promote gender equality, and uphold the right to learn.
