Sima Simar: The Fight for Human Rights in Afghanistan

On October 8th, join a fascinating online conversation about the captivating memoir, Outspoken, by Dr. Sima Samar and her co-author Sally Armstrong.

“Dr. Sima Samar’s lifelong advocacy for women’s rights in Afghanistan has made her both a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize and a thorn in the side of the Taliban. Her new memoir, Outspoken, provides an unparalleled view of her country’s present, and fragile future.

In this book, Dr. Samar shares her personal story, from her arranged marriage and her time in medical school, to eventually becoming a public official and working tirelessly for a better, more just Afghanistan.”

The discussion is presented by the Vancouver Public Library in collaboration with Right to Learn Afghanistan’s Vancouver Chapter, and will be moderated by Lauryn Oates, Executive Director of Right to Learn Afghanistan.

This is a free event, and all are welcome.
